Grab a "Two Column Notes" sheet if you don't have one. Hole punch it if you do. Copy these learning objectives:
-Identify policies and procedures essential to operating this class (like writing down these learning objectives)
-Distinguish between observations and inferences
-Identify proper scientific procedure and logic
-Differentiate between theories and hypotheses
Warm up:
On a scrap piece of paper, define "science"
Predict why the cup didn't pour.
Agenda:
Pass out and explain "Multipasses"
Distribute text books. (Don't bring them unless told to.)
Collect Agreement at end of Procedures and policies
"Nature of Science" Mimio with "Bell Jar Magic"
Homework:
Look the definition of "Philomath" and bring to class in three ring binder for tomorrow.
First period got to the notes but not past the first slide. They saw the force field, but did not do much with it. Most other periods stopped with the Mimio activity.
